A group of us headed off to the River Bandits game on Thursday. We didn't know what the weather was going to throw at us, as storms had rolled just barely north of the Quad Cities a few hours earlier. Luckily, sunshine was out for the 7 pm game of the River Bandits vs Kane County Cougars.

We were in the Tiki Village, and had reserved the Tiki Bed for us to lounge on with the river behind us and the ballgame in front of us...

This is Marty, our Tiki Bed concierge for the evening. He lent us a hand when we needed it and kept people out of our area if they meander into our view:
The breeze off the river was nice when it would waft across us, of course, things weren't nearly as hot and humid once the sun started to set:
At the end of the night, the bugs were out in full force, some of us were wilting from the humidity, but it was a great time together! From left to right: Lynn Barry, Susan, Juanita (in the very front), Katie, Jill, Claire, Linda, and Carol!

And we thank Marty (a survivor of five years from Stage 4 non-Hodgkin lymphoma) for all his help and enjoying our company!

We'll be returning to the Modern Woodmen Park next year for SnB at SnP 2010!
[Special thanks to Jill for sending out her copy of photos she took on Thursday! And a big thank you to Matt, of the QC River Bandits office, for helping me to arrange the Tiki Bed reservations and getting the tickets to me!]

SnB - June 17 Gathering
It was a night of many projects - let's get to it!
First, our favorite youngest knitter, Miss Sophie, knit a sweater for her doll - quite an accomplishment for one so young (never mind for some us who are a bit older!):
Again, FANTASTIC job, Miss Sophie!
And Claire decided to tempt us all out of our better natures by showing us her silk and gold beaded socks...who knew we could stick to our honest characters with such seduction in front of us!
Claire also brought in another lovely piece of lace work:
Lynn (Buettner) had a finished layette set for us to "ooh" over:
Courtney brought in an adorable bear out of some sock yarn!
And one of our wayward knitters, Karen, made it back and with a fabulous Noro sweater:
